Are you insinuating that the Democratic Party isn't owned by corporations?
LOL...No, but the person I responded to insinuated that there is no prosperity when that couldnt be further from the truth when it comes to the elite base of the GOP.
And that is 100% True.
Furthermore, the prospect of being at war didnt deter George W Bush from being reelected.
But then I get it, you guys hold Obama to a much higher standard.
Who knew so many people preferred wars to peace and depression over prosperity???
The Dems may be the Party of War, but the GOP is definitely the party of Depression. The Great Bush Recession is just the most recent example of a Dem Admin having to come in and clean up a GOP mess.
@ OP, it is fitting that Obama's ratings should rise in the wake of getting bin Laden. That was a stunning victory in a war that doesnt have many.
But, it won't count for much in 2012. This is the United Staes of Amnesia. The state of the economy and people's pocket books are going to be way more important to Obama's re-election chances.
And as of now, the economy is still in trouble. Bush @#$%^& things upperfectly. It may take longer than four years to right the ship. And, of course Obama only gets four years to show some progress, or it's adios.
Add to that, the GOP's job right now is to make sure things stay @#$%^&*-up till election time. Everything Boehner and the GOP Govs do till then makes perfect sense, if you think about it in those terms.
Obama will never enjoy sustained support much higher than the low-mid fifties because... well, just because. I saw a poll yesterday that said the number of GOPers who still believe Obama wasn't born in the US has crept back up to 50%
On the bright side for Obama, the GOP candidates for 2012 so far are not impressive, to put it kindly. Nonetheless, I predict a close election.
When Obama's cheerlearders report poll numbers I would not be surprised to see approval ratings over 100%. Obama has no chance of winning reelection unless he just throws so much money in to the propaganda machine that he is able to convince the American people that up is down and down is up. The economy is terrible and if he tries to blame it on Bush 4 years after Bush left office then Obama will just be seen as a president who can't lead.
Obama will have the usual advantages that the Dems have in a presidential campaign: huge money advantage and a fauning media that will carry water for him. However, those things mean less and less with alternative media and socail networking.
If frogs had wings they wouldn't bump their butts when they hop. Unfortunately his policies will preclude that possibilities.
