The United States needs to downgrade relations with Israel from "special" to "normal", just as other small, insignificant countries around the world.
Makes a lot of sense on so many levels. The Middle East is such a stable place and even if it were unstable there are no commodities that come from that part of the world that we have a need for. But since Israel doesn't have nuclear weapons, it isn't really important that we keep a lid on that particular powder keg!
I was through with Israel decades ago. Obama needs to stand his ground and Israel needs to learn its damn place-which is not in the forefront of American foreign policy.
We actually have a more important economic relationship with neighboring Arab states and that is the big irony behind this ridiculous pandering we're doing when it comes to Israel.

GREAT post. I'm so sick of the Israel first mentality that dominates American politics. The way you here some of these politicians and candidates talk you'd think they were running for Prime Minister of Israel rather than President of the United States. Let Israel take care of Israel. Leave that whole region of the world alone. Ronald Reagan said it best, we can't comprehend "the irrationality of Middle Eastern politics."
