I'm for getting rid of all subsidies. The breaks and loan guarantees keep the nuclear industry afloat. They couldn't survive without government assistance.

Some of you don't understand Germany and the Germans. These are methodical people. They aren't like us....wait for disaster to happen and THEN act. No, they're proactive people, and when they set their minds to do something, they DO it.

If the Germans are looking to get off of nuclear power, they'll not only do it, but do it well and efficiently. We live in a country that gets NOTHING done, and maybe before you so quickly critisize others, you'll look at your own house first. Besides, you should be wishing them well in their endeavors, not hoping that it fails, like a lot of you are doing.

Who decides whether this is the right or wrong thing? Germany has huge problems with permanent disposal site. There have been several incidents with nuclear plants in the past. The nuclear plants in Germany are not build to withstand a plane crash. Many of the plants are really old and their security is not up to date. What exactly do you know about the situation to make such a statement?

It's right if they want to do it. Their country.

Not nasty just realistic. Merkels move was purely political.

If it is political (or not), that's an issue for the German people to decide.

More power to them.....pun intended.

Not realistic, just uninformed and still nosy. It wasn't Merkel's move. The law was passed in 2001.
