Siddiqui's record at the U.S. Department of Agriculture and his role as a former registered lobbyist for CropLife America (whose members include Monsanto, Syngenta, DuPont and Dow), has revealed him to consistently favor agribusinesses' interests over the interests of consumers, the environment and public health (see attached fact sheet). We believe Siddiqui's nomination severely weakens the Obama Administration's credibility in promoting healthier and more sustainable local food systems here at home.
Which is why we need a true progressive running the show...
Congressman Dennis Kucinich, Ohio democrat and former presidential candidate, corrected her by stating the department can impose restrictions on weedkiller-tolerant crops under its authority to control noxious weeds. Kucinich advocates creating a moratorium on genetically modified organisms and is holding a series of hearings on the superweed issue.
What is really interesting is that more often than not, it is a Republican that supports and defends these monster corporations...just further proof of voting against one's best interest.
Kudos to those farmers. Monsanto's strategy seems to be almost that of a zombie infection. Get just one farmer in an area to plant their seeds, and voila', their revenue stream spreads due to pollen 'contaminating nearby crops, which then do the same to other crops near them. A zombie infestation of Monsanto lawyers then threaten to ruin those farmers if they don't pay up. That was probably their plan all along: get even one farmer to take their seed and *gotccha* soon enough they will own that region.

The whole country has less money that those lawyers make.
"ruin those farmers if they don't pay up?"
They have nothing to pay up with.
