Jobless claims 16K lower and that is supposed to be good news? 30 million folks looking for jobs and 16K got em. Good for them.

"Single-family home construction, which accounts for a large portion of the market, rose 3.7 percent."

Sounds like more section 8 housing going up.

We've gotten used to seeing one of these "green shoots" threads every month or two. Hope springs eternal that one of these times the wishful thinking will finally come true.

There actually is a better chance of improvement now that Obama's "stimulus" fiasco has run its course, especially if we can leverage some real spending cuts into the debt ceiling deal. Even a small step toward slowing the out-of-control spending will do wonders for business and consumer confidence...

You need more than a single "blip in time" of data points to say there's a TREND.

Look at all the data points from Jan 2011 until now. Now tell us the trend.

This is basically the second derivative of the change in unemployment rate. Basically unemployment is increasing, at a decreasing rate. How is that good news?

If I ever got a D in an in-major class in college, it means I didn't fail, but it also does't count for my degree since I needed a C- or above.
