You may well be one of the best friends those terrorists have. According to what i heard on TV this morning there were 5 terrorists involved and the way they want to do is to force nations to behave as you suggest with as few people as possible. Getting out is all they want. Well, those 5 don't really care now since they were killed and are now sporting with their 72 virgins in their version of heaven.
What you are suggesting is what will happen when we withdraw all but 3000 of our troops in Iraq. Sometimes we need to decide whether we plan to fight terrorism or just give in and let them walk in and take over.

They did it as a result of us poking our nose into middle eastern politics and resources, something that goes decades before 9/11/01.
Our business was not nation building,it was not making nations in our image.
Our business was to kill the terrorists responsible for the 9/11 attacks.

Or maybe because their prophet Mohammad commanded them to "9:29, Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued." And that goes WAY before 9/11/01.
