W landed several spaceships and people on the moon. I was the political high point of respect for scientific endevor in this country. Republicans replaced it with war, destruction and stupidity and endless profits for the warmongers.
The astronauts would be wearing bulky space suits, so they needed a flagpole that was easy to assemble and to plant in the ground. Plus, the pole had to be portable, and not use a lot of precious cargo space. So scientists rigged a telescoping pole with a telescoping horizontal crossbar that was supposed to make the flag look as if it were blowing in the wind.
The flag itself was standard issue, although the top was hemmed so that the astronauts would be able to slide it over the crossbar. Plus the entire assembly weighed less than ten pounds. Even so, the astronauts reported having some trouble setting the flag up. They weren’t able to stick the pole far enough into the ground, and they weren’t able to fully extend the horizontal crossbar. That explains the rippling effect.
The whole notion that 9/11 was a conspiracy is hilarious - the same people who rail at the government for incompetency in general screech that it has managed this massive coverup that would require the silence of tens of thousands of people.
Have these morons seen a talk-show in the past 25 years? Every idiot can't spew their most intimate secrets fast enough to grab their 5 minutes of fame - but but but the federal government has managed to keep this entire massive operation underwraps for 10 years...
It's like the actor in the movie "Core" being asked to stop all information flow on the web pertaining to the catastrophe the earth was facing...
There are a lot of stupid people out there, who feel themselves to be entirely unsuccessful and powerless in this capitalist society, so they believe that espousing the most idiotic beliefs will help them stand out and be noticed, perhaps even become an important part of the political conversation.
When a 9/11 idiot ("truther" is highly inaccurate, so I don't dignify them by describing them as such) opens their mouth and screams this nonsense, this might be the first time in years anyone actually notices their existence.
RE: this rabble, as someone once said it is better to be known for something bad/stupid then to have been never noticed at all.
Exactly, aside from the mountains of evidence surrounding the attacks, they ignore the tradition of government incompetence.
