Uh oh: White House caught lying about Petraeus’s withdrawal recommendations? « Hot Air

Quote:
In response to questioning from Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Allen testified that Obama’s decision on the pace and size of Afghanistan withdrawals was “a more aggressive option than that which was presented.” Graham pressed him. “My question is: Was that a option?”
Allen: “It was not.”
Allen’s claim, which came under oath, contradicts the line the White House had been providing reporters over the past week—that Obama simply chose one option among several presented by General David Petraeus. In a conference call last Wednesday, June 22, a reporter asked senior Obama administration officials about those options. “Did General Petraeus specifically endorse this plan, or was it one of the options that General Petraeus gave to the president?”
The senior administration official twice claimed that the Obama decision was within the range of options the military presented to Obama.
Not good if true but it will be overlooked, shrugged at, ignored, or dismissed by the media, as usual. Let's face it, this man and his "team" can get away with nearly anything with out as much a bat of an eye by the media.

Especially now that the election is coming up. A media that didnt have much to say about the numerous Obama/Biden gaffes have already showed their hand for the current day till next election: Focus on every gaffe/mistake/miscue by the GOP contenders. Focus on the lack of "experience" of some GOP candidates, though that certainly wasnt an issue when the Messiah was running in 08.

Quote:
Would Petraeus have made such a recommendation? No. He wants to win the war. When he was pressed last week to explain the peculiar timeframe, Petraeus said that it wasn’t military considerations that produced such a timeline but “risks having to do with other considerations.”
Which ones? Petraeus declined to say. But in a happy coincidence for the White house, the troops will be home in time for the presidential debates of 2012 and the November election.
This is nothing but another politician using our soldiers for political gain. Putting re-election above our mission and our troops. Sick and this WH should have to answer for this.

They are not listening to recommendations from the military and probably havent been. We've handicapped ourselves in this war for probably years now. While ill admit, I think its nearly impossible to defeat an enemy entirely such as islamic extremists, I have no doubt that if our troops and their superiors voices were heard, concerns were heard, and recommendations were heard, we wouldve made a helluvalot more progress in Afghanistan. Too much political bs like this defeats the purpose for us even being there.

IF this is what these clowns in DC are going to do, then they just need to pull every military person out of that country immediately. If we are not fighting a war to win, if we are playing politics with war and the troops, then just get the hell out now!

And I say again, if these allegations are indeed true, this Administration needs to be held accountable. Sadly, if they are true, dont expect our media to do its damn job and get on top of this. If it doesnt help their liberal agenda then they could give a damn.

Yeah I said the same thing back in Iraq when all the IED's were going off and instead of sending out our guys in tanks and blowing em to smithereeens we decided to play a nice war so as not to make anybody mad. You win a war by defeating the enemy. You see a guy lob a mortar at you from a couple blocks away take out the entire block and move on. They'll get the idea or die. We lost too many playing nice.

As for Afghan same crappola with the rules of engagement forced onto the troops. If it weren't for Petraues we would still be sloggin it out in Iraq playing nice instead of cleaning out that dump felluga and sending em running for cover. Let the soldiers fight the war that is their job. Politicians need to stick to what they know raising money to stay elected and lying to everybody including their mother to get their vote.

You mean the guy who years ago told us just how swell the training of Iraqi troops was going when he was involved with it?

Of course. You didnt need to bother commenting. Everyone is aware that you could give a damn is Obama and his team lie over and over and over again. In fact, you dont care what he does whatsoever. He'll always be right in your eyes, and those who oppose him will be wrong.

Isnt their an anti-Beck/Palin/Bachmann thread you should be spending time in right now? You should have the mods set up something for you. Everytime Obama or a liberal is called out on something in here, just have the mods auto insert a "Yawn" or "Who cares?! I hate Beck and Palin, they are so evil" comment by you. Thatll give you more time to spend telling everyone how much you hate Fox News, Beck, Palin, Bachmann, black conservatives, women conservatives, ....all conservatives.

This isnt a bash Petraeuss thread. This is a thread on the possibility of the WH being caught in a lie.

Petraeus's credibility is a factor.
