Olajide Oluwaseun Noibi, 24, a Nigerian-born man who was found with the stolen ID and up to 10 old boarding passes containing various names, was arrested Wednesday after attempting to board a flight from Los Angeles to Atlanta; five days after passing through layers of airport security at New York's JFK airport to board a plane with a day-old boarding pass, federal authorities said.
All one needs to do is look at the sort of people that make up the TSA in most of these airports. They would just smile at that Nigerian man, pat him on the back and let him go with zero hassle.
Some Israeli guy who worked for airport security in Tel Aviv was interviewed about TSA screening procedures, and he ventured to say what most everyone with a few brain cells knows - stop pestering the elderly and toddlers - and start profiling. He implied that if the US isn't ready for this, the TSA will continue failing to do what they are supposed to be doing. If the TSA's number one concern was securing the safety of travelers, then they would implement the profiling that has been going on in just about every other country instead of patting down 5 year old little girls.
Until we as a nation are ready to implement something that is seen as "politically incorrect" just to avoid making certain folks feel uncomfortable or targeted, then we will have to endure this farce of "random scrutinizing". We also need to hire professionals and pay them a decent wage - no more catatonic drooling dregs of society working for minimum wage just because they have a pulse. Let's think about this - having been an international air traveler since I can remember, I assure you that the airport screeners in all the European terminals were and are NOTHING like the disheveled, lumpy cretins working in the US terminals. They were and are sharp, well groomed and dressed, well spoken (in multiple languages), professional, and friendly.
