The past has shown them this is an easy thing to do. The on the job training for the Community Organizer In Chief is not going well at all.

It's how it's been since day one. Obama is a coward and would rather cave to the right and their horrific policies than fight for what is right. Pretty much every conversation i'm sure goes like this.

Republicans: Let's cut spending and balance the budget!

Obama: Sounds like a plan!

Republicans: Let's slash medicare, medicaid,..

Obama: Hold on now, those are essential programs, how about we slash the pork like the bloated military, handouts to the massive corporations and the tax cuts for the rich?

Republicans: No, and especially not our tax cuts.

Obama: We both need to make some cuts

Republicans: No, only "your" stuff, nothing on our side.

Obama: Come on guys, just a little?

Republicans: No

Obama: Please?

Republicans: No

Obama:,....Ok

Last I checked, Skippy still hasn't signed off on a budget yet, has he? He's still trying to push a massive budget requiring us to borrow trillions of $$ more.

A more accurate comparison would be Obama to Jimmy Carter.

Nice deflection and utter failure to address the GOP's lack of accomplishing anything but acting as the drama queens they are.

Keeping Obama in check is enough accomplishment. Don't get upset just because your party failed to act on this when they had majorities in both chambers.....

Not that I disagree or would challenge the scenario but Walter Russell Mead offers an analysis of current financial problems...

The Shame of the Cities and the Shade of LBJ | Via Meadia
Quote:
The Second Great Johnson Quagmire now destroying the nation is the Medicare/Medicaid complex. These entitlement programs are the biggest single financial problem we face. They dwarf all the Bush-Obama wars; they make TARP look like small change. They not only cost money we don’t have — and are scheduled to cost inexorably more until they literally ruin the nation — they have distorted our entire health system into the world’s most bloated and expensive monstrosity. Thanks to these programs, we have a health system that marries the greed of the private sector to the ineptitude of government, and unless we can somehow tame these beasts America and everything it stands for could be lost.
This was the beginning of the country's spending problem which has become out of control. Note in the picture at the link, the broad smile on the face of the great Socialist, Hubert Humphrey.
