This should be an impeachable offense. The Constitution says the congress must pay the debts incurred on the credit of the United States. Barry does not get to choose what bills get paid and what bills get defaulted on.

We can't borrow money, so then we can't pay our bills. I know that idea's a bit complicated, but there you are.
We still have incoming revenues and if this administration were willing to cut elective expenditures and non-crucial agenda driven projects we would not need to raise the debt ceiling.

The cure for not going further into to debt is to stop spending and get the debt and incurring interest under control.

Then the first thing we need to do is stop sending money we don't have to other countries..NOT cut our own citizen's payments.

What a warped, misguided sense of priorities.

Stop the bombing in Libya, Yemen and Somalia for one thing as those are not even funded yet Congress passed over $600 billion in defense spending just this week. That $600+billion would go a long way here in the US.

$200b/month revenue should cover seniors, shouldn't it?

Actually, the Constitution says that lawful debts must be paid (those approved by Congress). All debts are not lawful debts. See Article 1 Sec. 8 of the US Constitution.

How does Obama get blamed in all of this? The republicans have declared war on middle class, poor, and seniors. What is the problem with raising taxes on the top earners in the US? Even Warren Buffet says that taxes are unfair and the rich must pay more. The republicans are acting like school children holding their breath to get their way. If anything Obama has leaned far to much trying to compromise.

If you think that SS check is a sure thing no matter what then I got a bridge I'd like to sell you.

Sometimes truth is scary. You can't dismiss something just because it's bad news, that's insane.

Well elderly, disabled, and veterans...do you want to keep receiving your money and getting medical care?

You can see who is trying to deal like adults {D} and who refuses to take any offer unless it's 100% theirs {R}. If you want the {R}'s to stick to their guns, and think it's a bluff, do it. See what happens. I'm serious, go for it and see what happens.

If you don't get the checks you depend on...I hope people that voted for the {R}'s better keep their mouths shut on complaints.
