Especially as long as their BS is paid for by the "community". Ask the farmers what they think of these wind turbines. Polar Bears have yet to weigh in on the issue.

"Bats are nature's pesticide, consuming as many as 500 insects in one hour, or nearly 3,000 insects in one night, said Miguel Saviroff, the agricultural financial manager at the Penn State Cooperative Extension in Somerset County.
"A colony of just 100 little brown bats may consume a quarter of a million mosquitoes and other small insects in a night," he said. "That benefits neighbors and reduces the insect problem with crops."
If one turbine kills 25 bats in a year, that means one turbine accounted for about 17 million uneaten bugs in 2010.
Bats save farmers a lot of money: About $74 per acre, according to an April report in Science magazine that calculated the economic value of bats on a county-by-county basis.
In Allegheny County, bats save farmers an estimated $642,986 in a year. That's nothing compared with more agricultural counties in the region such as Somerset ($6.7 million saved), Washington ($5.5 million) or Westmoreland ($6.1 million).
Lancaster County? You owe bats $22 million.
In all of Pennsylvania, bats saved farmers $277.9 million in estimated avoided costs."

Wrong. If they didn't care, they would simply continue to run the turbines and kill the bats without trying to remedy the situation. Instead, they are scrambling trying to figure out how to make the turbines safe. This isn't a new problem. Turbines have been killing birds all over the country.

Do you honestly think environmentalists don't care about animals?

Very interesting article but how did it lead you to the conclusion that "Global warmers have no problem slaughtering thousands of bats"?

That was my question.

Are we going to have a debate over the casualties of people and animals over acquisition of energy resources, carbon and non-carbon based, or of exploration for other resources, or for growing food, or for building roads and cars?

No they are "fixing" the turbines so they won't get damaged. They manufacture these things at a plant about a half hour from me and I see em on the road all the time being delivered. Now they have a long saw toothed bladed installed on the last half of the blade so it chops through the bats and birds and whatever else flies in the way and won't damage the blade.

Ask the "environmentalists" who are wanting to hunt owls and KILL THEM who are moving in on some owls territory who they deem need to be protected if they care about animals. Ask the ones who are in love with their windmills and electric cars why we're in Afghan for their rare earth elements that is needed to power these things.

Maybe look at the economy and how the great orator depended on these "green" jobs and such to improve it and you'll see what it has done. We don't need windmills we got coal and oil. Ask China and Indonesia how that is working out for em. We used to thrive on it too but now would rather destroy our economy. Don't worry the insanity is just starting. The ramifications of the EPA and their "regulations" hasn't hit just yet.

.
Why not read the article, it tells how they are trying to reduce the kills not make then cleaner as you suggest.

I think actually reading the article would have taken away from the outlandish argument.

At least from all of the responses we can deduce that logic has won this round.

Oh ok that makes it all worthwhile then of course. When they start chopping up bald eagles I guess some will care.

What in god's name are you talking about? You do realize wind turbines are powered by...get this...wind?

Maybe this will put it into perspective for you: http://science.howstuffworks.com/env...kill-birds.htm It shows that WINDOWS kill more birds each year than wind turbines.
