Last time I was in NYC, "little Italy" was truly "little" "Italy" and "mostly" American/Chinese.

Nothing like Italy, imo.
But I would have loved to see NYC about 100 years ago.

Peace,
brian

most of us Italians moved out to the island in the 60's and 70's

NYC isnt what it used to be...but areas of Brooklyn are quite Italian

NYC metro area (including suburbs) has the largest population of Italians in the ENTIRE USA

Obviously people don't understand that Jewish Americans are in fact American who vote in American elections.

Israel, while a factor, is not the sole reason for the Jewish vote. A study came out that said that only 7% of American Jews rank policy toward Israel as their #1 reason for voting and only around 33% rank Israel in the top 3 reasons for voting.

If you look at the GOP platform, a large portion of it does not jive with American Jewish cultural beliefs.

American Jews are largely employed in small businesses and the self employed professions in major urban areas. Often times, you have to be inside the political sphere to get anything done and most of these urban areas tend to be Democratic. On that note, 93% of the Jewish population resides in 16 metro areas.

From a social perspective, American Jews largely favor gay marriage, medical marijuana, pro choice for abortion, euthanasia, stem cell research from a social perspective.

Foreign policy in my opinion is split. A lot of American Jews supported the war in Iraq, but just as many did not.

orthodox jews have been voting Republican in many elections (Borough Park voted at a 90% rate for McCain and in a completely orthodox ED in Lakewood NJ Mccain got 885 votes and Obama got 3 and 1 third party candidate for a whopping 99.6% of the total vote) the demographics also show that orthodox jews are the only growing jewish demographic in America (and at a much faster rate then America at large).

the large dark red areas in red in Brooklyn and central Queens are all Jewish

american jews are clustered in America's biggest cities - NY and LA. These states aren't voting Republican anyway.

SAD that you don't understand that Israel is the only Jewish state in the world, and that the ethnicity, history, geography, as well as religion are inextricable.

It is beyond comprehension that liberals could even pretend to be this ignorant.

I'll add Fl., Mass., and NJ to significant Jewish populations.

What nonsense. The Dems support the State of Israel. What the Dems don't do is say the interest of the State of Israel is identical to those of the US. Conservative religious members of the GOP support a greater Israel so that all the Jews can go there as part of the end of the world.

The latter is widely discussed in Israel and even the PM's cabinet members have publicly responded and say they know they are playing a dangerous game working with the Christian right who seeks their anniliation.
