Not this time. They are being reckless, period. Even Boehner knows that and the GOP senate. Compromise is the name of the game and they want no part of it for selfish reasons. It is not in this country's interest to default. Many cheering the Tea Party on this issue posting here will find themselves unemployed next week if default occurs.
Actually, the growth in spending right now is largely due to programs that date to long before his presidency. I guess that doesn't stop people from blindly whining about things.
Balancing the budget will be done to the detriment of everyone. Things cost money. Perhaps instead of whining about the person trying to fix it, you can stop giving a pass to those who are most responsible for this situation.
