here is the problem you guys have when talking about business jets and tax deductions, you have no clue as to what you are talking about.
1: bill gate cannot buy a business jet for his private use and write it off on his taxes. that is known as illegal in this country, and people go to jail for it.
2: when a corporation, or any business for that matter, buys equipment, regardless of what it is, as long as it is for business use can depreciate the value of said piece of equipment as an expense, which is allowed by the government since it is recognized that durable goods have a limited lifespan, be it a stove, cash register, computer, or business jet.
3: the companies who build the jets dont receive tax breaks for building or selling them, the companies that buy them do, and it isnt a tax break so much as an accelerated depreciation schedule.
4: it was president obama that pushed for the accelerated depreciation schedule for corporate jets in the stimulus package, and now he wants to take that away? i hope obakma quits changing his mind all the time so that we can get some certainty back into the economy.

This proves the idea of trickle down economics. You can in fact create jobs by supporting business just as you can destroy jobs by discouraging business.
Warren Buffett asked, "What is the difference between a corporate jet and a corporate locomotive?" The answer, of course, is that one can be used to inflame the ignorant and excite the Dem base. (And the ignorant are inflamed--just read their posts.)
Obama's offensive could have been reworded like this: "All taxpayers are entitled to deduct reasonable business expenses--except this new class of villains I just created for political purposes."
It is pathetic that at this late date, the President of the United States chooses to prance and posture about an issue that wouldn't begin to make a dent in the deficit anyway. The Gang of Six bipartisan, centrist plan was not about corporate jet owners. The Simpson Bowles commission report was not about corporate jet owners. Too bad Obama couldn't find a way to get to the middle ground. Even Harry Reid was saying good things about the Gang of Six until he paid a visit to Obama and got his marching orders.
When Obama says "corporate jet owners" he is announcing that he has taken the low road. He is not leading, he is not negotiating, he only postures for political gain. And the country suffers.
Flat tax is stupid, progressive tax makes much more sense, and even most wealthy people believe this, but for some reason middle class talk radio worshippers don't.

These Princes of Prosperity had better realize the the public views corporate jets as frivolous toys adding to their cost for goods and services. They are viewed as an extravagance.
If they are viewed that way it is only because the Obama media has demonized them so much. Airplanes are a legitimate business expense. Many times they allow companies to fly their people at a time or to a place where commercial air travel doesn’t go. This can result in savings that exceed to cost of operating the jet.

Commercial aviation would be much better if there was less government involvement. The experimental aircraft industry has come up with advances that certified aircraft manufacturers don’t add to their planes because of government costs and the threat of lawsuits of something goes wrong. There are some highly modified experimental airplanes out there that get 66 mpg while flying at 200 mph using the same engine as a Cessna 172 (15 mpg at 120 mph). Government demonization of an industry is not helpful but it is one of the cards in Obama’s class warfare deck and it’s the only game he knows how to play.

They are basing their business on the fact that corporations and wealthy people will be able to write off their jets on their taxes.
No tax write off, they assume they will lose business.
It's the same logic behind the ability to write off meals for business. Why the hell was anyone ever allowed to write meals off in the first place? Now the restaurant industry screams that if you end that write off their business will crash.
Is it the taxpayers fault that their business is based on a BS write off? Bring your own lunch to work.
Every move you make to cut spending or raise revenue has a negative effect on SOMEONE You cut entitlements, some senior has less money to spend, doesn't go out to eat as much maybe, doesn't buy a new TV.
GOP boot lickers only point out what the net result of tax increases or removal of loopholes, but seem fine with the negative impacts of cutting SS and Medicare, as if they have no negative economic impact.
So what you are saying is, these businesses that build planes don’t get special tax breaks that others don’t...
does that mean you misspoke or knowingly made a false statement to bolster your view?
and exactly what is the difference between a business write off for a computer and an airplane that are both used for business purposes?
We work from the assumption that we all know income tax is based on net income after expenses and not gross income....
