Uh, I didn't see anyone objecting to cases of children being removed in instances of physical or sexual abuse.

Unless you consider a fat kid to be as abused as one who has a parent to rapes him or her or beats the kid to the point of hospitalization. If so, there is no real point in arguing with you since your beliefs are removed from decency and reality it would be a waste of both our times.

I don't doubt that such a program could become official policy in this country...but why would the state want to assume such a burden? Hasn't it already got enough problems?

If your kid is fat, then there are precisely two people who can do something about it: you, and your kid. Who would have imagined--it's actually nobody else's business!
