I doubt Republicans will be okay with this, but I'm sure the majority of independents will support this idea.

Do you support it and why?

You have over 50% of Americans NOT paying Federal Income tax.
When over half the country is poor enough to get back all they've paid to the Fed in income tax you are not going to get increased demand with lowered taxes.

It's not that simple FB.

Actually I think Buffet is being investigated for not paying his taxes. He may HAVE to pay more though he so far hasn't wanted to do more than talk about it.

You are right that is a big problem and it is evidence of why it is so important to redistribute. A lot of those people are not earning enough to have a tax bill, that's the point. It would not be difficult to do it, if certain people were willing the take the steps.

Of course, that's the ideal.

YOUR way to get there is through government fiat...which never works.

That's the point.

It will not raise any more money....in fact, it will bring in fewer tax dollars.

All in the name of "fairness".

Most of the "wealthy" that this pertains to, are wealthy because they are small business owners or are corporations. As such when you increase the tax on these individuals, they meerly increase the cost of their goods and services to cover the taxes and additionally increase the cost to cover the increase caused from the increase.... The result is those who purchase those goods and services are actually the ones paying the increased tax. Who is that increase on?? YOU!!!

Never works? You are aware of the '50s, '60s and '70s I hope? You know, actual History, not the revised versions.

Here's a completely insane thought. Instead of making millionaires and billionaires pay more, how about we just slash tax rates for everyone else? Not only would that right the wrong of the rich paying less percentage-wise, but the vast wave of millions of Americans keeping more of their money would prompt them to spend more. Our economy could eventually recover; it won't bounce back on this alone, but it would at least stop swirling around the toilet, and that's half the battle.
