Naturally it happened in California. What's news worthy is the school system backed the parents instead of the anti-Christian teacher.

So this is what many here in the US have "Progressed" to. Being offended by a simple "bless you" after someone has sneezed.

Obama is half-right. We haven't just gotten soft. We've gotten looney.

I look forward to the day someone gets punished for saying "excuse me" after a belch or fart in the wrong environs.

In a way, they were correct.

Only once. But what has that got to do with my post? How do things work in your church (if you have one)?

Dictation? Just follow the etiquette that a particular institution and circumstances demand(s). Lack of discipline in schools is a major problem in public schools. If the students can't handle it, they ought to go private or for homeschooling instead of running home crying mommy. Heck, if people start saying "Bless you" or "God bless you" out of so-called courtesy while national anthem is being sung at a ballpark/arena, you just might have thousands of "courteous" people out there. Still not getting it?

voucher system is better.

Muslim kid? Mention of Allah? Well, there would be a good possibility of this thread not existing, and if it did, it would favor the teacher as being right. This is America, you see, where fundamentalists are keen to push for the whims of the majority, just as they are in any other country as well.

Damned socialists with their PC.

"When the frontal lobe damage is bilateral and generally more extensive, the patient completely loses the ability to act in a self-directed manner and becomes totally dependent upon the surrounding environmental indicators to guide his behavior in a general social context, a condition also identified by Lhermitte (1986), and referred to as "Environmental Dependency Syndrome".

I'm thinking Dr. Strangelove.
Not sure what tangent you're going on, but I'm just talking about having been raised with manners that have become second-nature.

Tangents are used for leverage, man.

I total hear ya about second nature. I always excuse myself if I do a perfectly normal bodily function in public. I always bless people, too.

In my home we say, "Bless you for the morning (afternoon, evening)" on the first sneeze. Saves us from saying it a zillion times. We usually all bless each other three times a day.

I can't believe this made P&C. I just saw it in the CA forum and will reapeat myself. The ONLY thing this is about is kids disrupting the class and it's an old trick going back at least to when I was a kid, and I'm over 50 now. It's like the old drop-the-pencil trick. If you guys don't know about this stuff you've been living under a rock. It's not about free speech or religion or student rights or being polite. I think everyone knows that. How this is "news" I'll never know but apparently it's true that you can't sneeze in this country anymore without it becoming headline news and having a lawsuit involved...and 10+ pages of forum comments.

Exactly right, except in America the PC extremists demand that we abstain from participating in anything second-nature, unless of course it's to peel a banana.
