Tariff after tariff, and who's suffering? The lower-income citizens of America. Not Trump or the 1%. Upper middle class can ride this out also. Again, lower income families vote Trump and Republican and they lose.
China is not backing down in this trade war. What does trump think he can do? Chinese President Xi Jinping changed legislation so that he is now "president for life" in China. He can ride this out til next or for another 4 years if he has to. Most predict coming months will be damaging to the stock market.
Trump will see this as a signal to the Fed to lower rates again.
Meanwhile, the increased trade accountability for China being imposed by President Trump enjoys bipartisan support. This is something that the Democrats have been calling for for years. And now that it is President Trump doing it, the Republicans are to a large degree on board as well.
There is no trade deal with China they broke it the first year
A broken contract is not a contract
Mr trump is trying to get us one
Why is that so hard to understand
Long run. It is reducing investment in China by western firms. The one bright side.
It's a sneaky move on China's part, weakening their currency to counter the tariffs.
The long run is what this is all about, unfortunately many seem content purchasing, importing, and making profits from Chinese goods while the nation as a whole is headed down the toilet from Trillions in trade deficit with China.

The Chinese will lose if the US has resolve, as a far greater part of its economy is dependent upon us, rather than the other way around.
Liberals would have a surrender and submit to a slow death via trade exploitation. If the libs had been in charge after Pearl Harbor, we would have surrendered immediately and would currently be under an oppressive Japanese dictatorial rule.
Thank God there have been very few instances in our history in which liberals were in charge.
This is a great thing. People should stop buying useless crap made in china.
Tariffs don't raise prices on water, electricity, or medical care. Just useless nonsense that Madison avenue sells to the gullible who go into debt thinking they've made themselves happier.

Agreed. China's leverage is nil with the USA buying nearly 5x the stuff from them, that they do from us.
As I have made an effort to personally not buy Chinese stuff, it hasn't been a huge issue for availability or pricing for the most part. Many quality items that cost more from the US or other countries, are actually built to......gasp...last longer!
We have already been suffering a slow death via trade exploration, see $13 Trillion of deficit with China.
