In fact, look at this long list of revolutions:

Can you find more than a handful of revolutions that ended well?

The fact of the matter is that political revolutions tend to create environments that are FAR worse than the environments they seek to supplant. I'm no fan of Obama or any current politico, and the system is obviously dysfunctional... but never forget... there 20 Hitlers, Stalins, Chairman Maos, Pol Pots or Napoleon's for every George Washington or Benjamin Franklin. If you think lighting will strike the same place twice, you just might be crazy... or uneducated and blinded by our illustrious, often mythological country's past.

Revolution is NOT the answer to today's woes. If we continue on this path as a people, things can (and will) become FAR worse than the average American can possibly imagine.

Now for an 80's power ballad...

The current "revolution", the OWS miscreants, are NOT illustrative of what a majority of this country believes in, which is capitalism, free market and opportunity for all.

This bunch of leftists want MORE spending, MORE taxing, MORE government.

That is not what the American people want. There are PLENTY of examples of why what they want is a really bad idea - look east, across the water to the EU.

That's why the GOP won the historic election of 2010 - to STOP obama and the dems from their spending binge.

We have a Constitution which protects our liberties from the abuses of government. We have a Congress which refuses its duty to uphold the US Consitution as written. This is what should be protested. No abuses are possible where there is adherence to the Constitution.

How does protesting the Wall Street bailout and corporate influence on government equal anti-capitalism?

Guess what? I can vote and marry white people now. Newsflash: did you know what is known as America now, had a revolution? I know this is City Data, but at least try to instill a modicum of rationality in your thought processes.

When a government comes to represent only a small group of the wealthiest people while ignoring the needs of the masses then change is in order. Average Americans have tired in vain to elect people who will present their interests and all they got was a song and a dance. The only thing politicians have delivered is a lot of lip service and no action. Once all the options have been exercised and there is no resolution then the only thing left is revolution.

The OP has described revolution as being violent. However, as we have seen in the middle east change can come about without violence on the part of the protestors. We watched the police and military slaughter innocent unarmed civilians in the middle east attempting to begin a peaceful change. They were not asking or demanding money or power. All they wanted was fair treatment and the right to earn a living. That pretty much is what most Americans want.

I salute you wonderful protestors. May God be with you!

This whole OWS thing is a passing fad. This time next year it will hardly be a memory.

This is no revolution. It's a bunch of pretentious hippies having an adult version of a little girl's tea party in their own land of make believe.
