They're just taking into account bachelors degrees. Most jobs in chemistry, biology, psychology, etc. require at least a master's degree. HR, journalism, and advertising are definitely worthless though. Business as an "academic" field is also pretty much pointless.
Yes, I agree with this. A BS in Chemistry/Biology, etc. will in fact get you far if you tackle grad school. But, don't be fooled, there are plenty who do not go on to obtain graduate degrees. I knew of quite a few in college in the psychology field with no apparent direction as to what they would actually do with it. The same goes for other sciences as well.
Yeah law in particular is a bad field to get involved in right now outside very specific areas of practice. Even some T14 schools are having post-graduation employment woes.
That is because people go into law with the wrong expectations.
My jaw dropped as soon as I started reading that list!
From the article posted:
BTW, I know several lawyers, accountants and teachers fresh out of school who can't find a job in their fields. Conversely, I know several photographers and graphic designers who are cleaning house as people look to buy from the "little guy".
Yes, in the past couple of years there have been more lawyer graduates then there have been lawyer jobs. Ironically, lawyer graduates have recently embarked on a class-action lawsuit against the American Bar Association for misrepresentation of jobs available after college. LOL True Story!!
let me esplain u.
its a prestigious cultural enrichment program with a huge price tag masquerading as a white collar trade school.
have you ever been to a restaurant with a whole mob of people waiting outside in the cold to eat there?
the staff kicks them around like unwanted dogs and then gives them lousy food & socks them with a stiff bill.
then they go home and brag about that they ate there??? OMG!!!.
that is the current university experience.

No wonder this nation is screwed! Check out how many students graduated with these degrees in the 2008-2009 timeframe! And to think that thousands of students are in DEBT over this crap!
I see lots of problems with that list, some fields just aren't super lucrative but can be very rewarding. Many of those degrees are received by people that go on to teach kids, social work, law enforcement etc. which arent traditionally high paying.
Additionally, Agriculture and Animal Science majors tend to work in rural low cost areas and many people that work in those fields operate as small businessmen and pay themselves modest salaries while accumulating capital assets and retire as multi-millionaires.
Why stop at the "bottom 20" though? I have one of the most lucrative bachelors degrees you can possibly get and I don't go looking down my nose at other people.
The article is tacky, full of holes and intellectually shallow fluff.

You're a math graduate, right? What gets harder than DI and Calc III?
