Makes perfect sense. If Israel wants to build a nation, it needs people, not expatriots. Bring the American wives and husbands back to Israel to make their homes - there's a blessing in that.

The Israeli identity is different from the American Jewish identity. Therefore it makes sense that if an Israeli married an American Jew in the USA that they might put down roots in the USA and not return to live in Israel.

Israelis continue to portray themselves as if they are somehow different, special, 'chosen', and then complain when they are treated as if they are different.

Otherwise known as the very definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Many American Jews aren't really Jews per se they're like moderate Muslims, apostates. I can see why conservative Israelis wouldn't want their daughters marrying them.

While I am not a Jew if I lived in Israel and could figure a way to live almost anywhere else the door would not hit me on my ass on the way out. Having a government tell its citizens that they should not marry a coreligionist is the height of arrogance. It is what I expect from the Israeli government. I do not expect it from Jews.

LC - Good point. However if I were an Israeli Grandparent I would hope my grand kid married a niece Jewish kid from Long Island so I could visit during the rocket and bombing season. That is better than trying to run away from the katushka rockets in the morning.
