The latest unemployment numbers for Alabama had the unemployment rate dropping a whopping 0.1%, not 0.5%. One tenth of a percent.

the NYT article is titled 'the price of intolerance'

it's now considered 'intolerant' to expect people to obey the laws?

So in other words "OP" you're taking joy in this? I mean god forbid, a State trys to enforce laws the Federal Government has no desire to. That article was typical of many, try to make people feel bad, pull at your heart strings, leave out the term ILLEGAL etc.. just a bunch of typical crap! Gee I wonder where the term ILLEGAL was in that whole article... Didn't see it once, why is that? O wait I did, they only used it when referring to the German Mercedes Manager.. The rest of the article used the much beloved PC term of "Undocumented Immigrants".

Love the part where it says Cops can't focus on real crime now.. Since when has Identity Theft, and being in the Country Illegally not been a crime? Besides, it's not like the Cops are going door to door asking for papers. People will be caught while committing an offense. I Just don't get how people can try to make excuses and expect others to be ok with people breaking the law. That's great if they are hard workers, just trying to feed their family. But it doesn't change the fact they are a CRIMINAL, and here Illegally.

Apparently - and obviously those who think Alabama is having a economic problem have completely failed to look at California which is inviting illegals to come in and use the hospitals, schools, take jobs and food stamps and so on and now can't figure out how to pay for them all.

Alabama apparently does not have the budget problems of California.

Gee, you got all of that from my comment.
A little partisan of you, doncha think.

I guess you missed the part that I quoted about having to show IDs all over the place and the extra cost to the community.
Don't let that get in the way of some good hatred, though.

Again a state is punishing chidren for the failures of their parents. As far as I am concerned stable immigrant families should be provided with a way to become citizens and be under the protection of the Law so they cannot be exploited by criminals because they are outside the Law. I believe most of these people will be good citizens although some, just like our home grown variety, will be violent criminals. We should keep the good and deport the bad.

That's the WORST thing you can do for a country like Mexico. We should want a more stable country as our neighbor, we should not be doing all we can to destabilize that country, yet that's exactly what we're doing and is being proposed with that -- "we will take the good ones and throw back the bad ones".

Also with about 10% unemployment, we simply do not need millions of illegals.

It's called the Christmas season, which makes up 60 - 70% of the yearly retail business
