It seems like almost anywhere I go on the internet I encounter extreme racism. It usually involves whites vs blacks with both sides attacking each other unprovoked on a constant basis. Not just stormfront either, but youtube, I've visitied a few hip hop forums where discussions just as vile as any kkk or black militant nationalist site, and even on here there is an undercurrent of racial hate from both sides.
Out here in the world I don't see and experience it much.
Is the internet the place where the most hateful vent there disgusting thoughts and feelings about other groups, a place where the outcasts and losers of our society can have a prominent voice, or is it the place where most people take off there masks and verbally attack others based on race?
It is both.
Attend a Klan Rally in robe; someone can punch your lights out and probably get an ovation.
On the internet you can be a hateful **** and anonymity assures your safety.
The internet has removed much of the danger and bad reputation from being a loony.
If a large portion of humans are uninformed and/or stupid, it's not going to be different on the internet. And in my experience, the racism is usually on websites with a majority conservative/republican base.
It's just the way the Net is. This is a place for gutless folks to come on and say the things they can't say to people in real life. I find it odd that i've encountered more racist nonsense in one CD thread than i've enountered in 46 years in person. Folks know who and who not to say that sh*t to. So you just let the folks with kool-aid blood keep running their mouths....it's not big deal.
Perhaps it's sort of a good thing. For too long, no one is "allowed" to say what's on their minds. Many after so many years of everyone venting, it'll be all good? LOL
I say this half joking, but at the same time... we all get flamed if anyone makes the SLIGHTEST "racist" remark. I'm sure there's a lot of build up in people and they need to vent. I can't say "hate" is legit, but people's feelings are.
I much rather see people doing this on a forum or a blog then out face to face, causing violence.
But, also, Majin is correct. Some people do it for attention. It IS kind of funny to make something SLIGHTLY racist and watch the whackos get super bent out of shape.
Not just racism, we have people hating whites, browns, blacks, mexicans, whites, chinese, gays, evangelicals, atheists, europeans, muslims, poor, rich, Republicans, Democrats, etc etc.
We seem to have a lot of hate hiding behind the phony smiles.
Doubt we are very different from any other country. Maybe, it is human nature and internet makes it worse as you can hide behind it.
Given the violent tendencies of certain groups, it would be pretty foolish to say un-P.C. things around them.
