That could be because the real Tea Party let itself be hijacked very early on by the likes of Dick Armey and the Koch brothers.
As soon as it became obvious that it could be a serious threat to the established Neo-Con's of the GOP, they took control of it and the real tea partiers were too politically naive to see it happening.

When I saw Palin making a speech at a "Tea Party" gathering I knew the Tea party had been hijacked.
Don't know why Liberal idiots have such a hard-on for an organization that hasn't done a whole lot politically.
