Gambling is all the rage apparently. Look at what NADEX is asking permission to do. Nadex Files To List Options On 2012 Presidential Election Outcomes - WSJ.com

Place your bets: Company proposes options market for elections – CNN Political Ticker - CNN.com Blogs

Nadex Derivative Exchange Asks Permission to Trade Political Contracts | Gambling911.com

This article points out using it as a gauge, which I think many would like to see since markets are already so rigged now.

Gambling on an election. I'm sure there will be some people who will defend it. I don't like it, tho, there's already too much dirty money in elections.

If any gambling needs to stop, it's the gambling the government takes when it tries to pick winners and losers.

Well I think the only thing that will stop anything the govt does is "we the people".

Kind of like asking a serious drug addict to help themselves. This usually only happens when they hit bottom.

Glad to see the traders can still prosper in this economy. Thats all that matters in an oligarcy.

Well, this has been going on. Intrade Prediction Markets
However, putting this on NADEX would seem to have different implications. I mean the whole mess we are in now is heavily tied to derivatives.

Yes and politicians can prolly wager as well...truly inmates running the asylum...they are almost hell-bent on destroying any equitable legislation reigning in the traders, it is like the Wild West. Unreal.

Oh I am sure politicians can wager. Keiser was talking about this and used the example of one of the candidates starting a rumor about themselves then shorting the market and taking the profits to fund their campaign.

This is right up their w/ your govt being the number one share holder in the markets and most corporations. They profit from unhealthy shorting. Notice I say "they" because the surpluses are continually down played, not discussed and not shared w/ the public.

This is the main reason for the 90's decision to move jobs over seas. In corporate terms it is called "externalizing" costs. Just go look at state CAFRs. FL's alone is quite interesting.

I don't think it is the wild west tho. More like a well thought out and psychopathic implementation and evolution. The wild west I would characterize as more spontaneous and survival based. And actually way more transparent.
