Why?

Should Laura Ingraham, Rush Limbaugh, Juan Williams, Randi Rhodes, or Ed Schultz shut up too? Why are they more qualified to speak on political matters than a celeb? Because they live inside the Beltway and have access to political insiders?

To me, that makes them MORE tainted than a celeb. Talk about vapid. Michael Reagan would be a dishwasher if his dad wasn't the Gipper, and yet, he goes around the country as some sort of great authority on political matters. I could talk to a plumber and get better political info than what that dude has.

If it makes you feel any better I think Rush and Michael Reagan should also shut up. Mel Gibson is clearly a bigoted, wife beating lunatic who should not be allowed out in public.

Artists by and large are liberal. As an artist myself, I am liberal. It just makes sense socially to be liberal. There have been numerous studies that people who are Socially Conservative have lower IQ's than those who are Socially Liberal.

No, what would make me feel better is an explanation as to why Juan Williams is qualified to discuss politics and Sean Penn should shut up. What's the difference?

Many of these celebrities probably need to be reminded that they didn't become celebrities because they talk politics.

Why do you believe celebrities gave up their citizenship when they chose their profession?

What other professions do you think should lose their right to free speech?

All true...i've been saying this for a long time.

But what isn't making sense to me is how people gauge who is and who isn't qualified to discuss political matters in a free country.

Again, i want someone to tell me why Brit Hume can keep talking, but Britney Spears should shut up. What's the difference. Why is the world according to Ms Spears vapid and not worth my time while Brit Hume is seen as some sage on political matters when it's all just a matter of personal opinion.

Are these people more qualified because Uncle Rupert writes them a check to run their mouths?

Why don't you remind me why someone that "talks politics" is more qualified than a celeb?

Why won't anyone answer the main question here?
