There's a man that won't be back next year.

Hm, so he is arguing for the suppression of opposing political viewpoints? At least, it sounds like he is arguing that "leftist" views don't have a place in America. Is this the new hallmark of democratic freedom?

Oh wait, I actually think there are quite a few example nations in the world where opposing political viewpoints are not tolerated. I think there is also historical precedent.

Oddly enough, somehow I wouldn't want to live in any of them.

Is this the America the Allan West envisions? Sounds like a pretty short-sighted fool to me.

Wow, I thought he believed in the land of the free.

Where people were free to believe in things things even if he didn't agree with it.

It kind of shows he doesn't really agree with what America stands for, he want's a right wing authoritarian dictatorship.

I like a Gingrich/West ticket.

OP, please check the link. I listened to the speech twice and don't find any of the advocacy for suprression of opposing views, stopping voting, or authoritarianism that several posters here heard. I did hear him advocate 'individual freedom.'

I also did heard him say that Pelosi etc. should peddle their socialism elsewhere, get it out of the US. But he didn't specify the means by which to get them out. I happen to know that his preferred means is persuation and the ballot box, not the bullet box.

Maybe it's not the link. Is there a special 'lefty hallucinate mode' at the link that brings forth the pro-authoritarianism part of the speech? How do I access it?

Exactly! Same as those who stand on their soapbox, ranting on, in the public parks. Sane people passing by will look then shake their head in bewilderment asking themselves as to how this person isn't in a room with padded walls. Nobody wants to argue with them as they know it's hopeless to argue with crazy people.

Allen West represents the problem with our country. A person who isn't open to discussion & compromise, but instead insists it's his way or the highway.

Dear Allen,

Without "leftism" being a part of the long history of American political culture you'd still be on a real plantation.
