Republicans controlled the legislature in 2000 and made a district for a Claw Shaw a former Republican representative from the area who won a fluke election in a D+9 district. They basically took all the Republicans in Broward and Palm Beach counties and put them in one highly gerrymandered district. That was about 50-50% which West won (see below for map of 2000-2010 district).
Then Florida voters passed referendums preventing the legislature from using incumbent protection as a factor in redistricting and as such there was no legal way not to make the district much more Democratic.
Aaaaahhh...ok. I didn't realize that it was Clay Shaw's old district. But damn, Shaw was in the seat for a hell of a long time, then i remembered a Democrat winning it some years ago...can't recall his name off the top of my head.
Wow, looks like West is a goner by the looks of things. I usually don't care about other legislators, but after what he did to Ellison, i can't stand that dude.

What bothers me most is that Liberals and other losers throw their undying support behind these creeps. Which speaks volumes to me.....a large contingent of our country has never had the pleasure of seeing good leaders in action to the degree that they'd celebrate Barack, Harry, and Nancy.
It's no wonder this nation is circling the drain. Seriously.

I wouldn't be so quick to speak of any leadership if I was sitting on the right side of the aisle , leadership's been sadly lacking there for decades while there's been NO shortage of misleadership.
