As some of you may have heard, there is an apartment building on C St. in Washington where several Christian members of Congress stay, or have stayed while on duty.

What's going on in there and who's behind it?

Here's my thoughts on the subject.

WORLDmag.com | All in the family | Emily Belz, Edward Lee Pitts | Aug 29, 09

It didn't tell me anything I didn't already know, but it did set me to researching the organization ("The Family," among other names it's gone by over the years) more deeply than I have before (God Bless the internet! *:-) ).

Here's a couple of links relating to it's founder, Abraham Vereide, it's current leader Doug Coe, and a look at what's gone on in the house on C Street:

Norman Grubb

Jesus plus nothing: Undercover among America's secret theocrats?By Jeff Sharlet (Harper's Magazine)

Since the organization is so secretive, by design, I can't find what you would normally call their "Profession of Faith," that is, a brief statement of what they believe. *They don't have any trouble talking about Jesus Christ and on the face of it, that's not a bad thing. *However, as I've learned over the years, there are many, many different opinions about just who or what Jesus was, so I no longer accept using His name as evidence of anything. *I want to know WHAT they know of Jesus and believe about Him before I follow along. *That doesn't seem to be available, at least not on-line. *Consequently, I'll reserve an opinion on that subject.

Doug Coe apparently likes to reference Hitler as a sort of guide to what can be accomplished by one man with the right structure in place. *That could be a benign acknowledgement that he WAS a very effective leader and DID create an organization which allowed him unlimited power. *If someone should want to create a similar organization for a good cause, it very well would be a good model to follow. *On the other hand, it could also show a fascination with Fascism and, given that the Neo-Conservative movement seems to be Fascist to the core, it could be instructive.

And, speaking of the Neo's, Vereide's ministry seems to have begun as an anti-dote to the perceived influence of socialism/Marxism in the state of Washington during the depression. *It's beyond doubt that Marxism held sway over a lot of people during that time and it actually was the trade unions they were using to advance their cause. *However, it's also interesting to note that the breeding ground of true, classical Neo-Conservatism was rooted in the same thing. *

The first Neo's were committed, liberal Democrats who were also anti-Communist. *Shunted aside by the liberal, pro-socialist wing of the Democratic Party during the 60's, they broke off and formed their own faction which eventually morphed into the Republican Party of today. *Though they claim the mantle of "conservative," they are actually as liberal as Lyndon Johnson, but pro-American and anti-socialist/Communist. *That they would deliberately hide that seems to be, at least in part, because of the teachings of Leo Strauss, an economist at the University of Chicago. *One of his teachings was that the ideology supersedes everything and that it's alright to lie, to build a dishonest facade, to preserve the ideology. *Wolfowitz was actually one of his students, but his influence goes much farther than that.

In any case, it seems easy to make a connection between Vereide, Coe et al and the current crop of Neo-Conservative Republican's and stealth Neo-Con Democrats (like the Clinton's), but there is no direct quid pro quo. *In all my extensive research into the roots of Neo-Conservatism/Fascism, their names have never come up. *That does not mean they aren't involved, which would be predictable given their penchant for secrecy, but it also does not mean they are major players in the movement.

However, I will mention one other thing in regards to that and let you draw your own conclusions.

"The Family" has an on-going teaching ministry at Oxford University in Great Britain. *As you probably know, Oxford has been the university of choice for many, many world leaders in just about every field, but particularly in politics. *Bill Clinton studied there, for instance, as did Tony Blair and David Cameron, the current UK Prime Minister. *Oxford has also been the home of the Rhodes Scholarship's for more than a century. *As you may or may not know, that scholarship was funded by Cecil Rhodes, a Britain who was deeply involved in South Africa and an ardent defender of the idea of Empire. *He funded that scholarship in his will for the express purpose of bringing selected men (and later women) from all over the old British Empire (and later the rest of the world) to Oxford to study how to bring the enlightenment which only the British race could bring to the rest of the world. *That also included the far flung dominions, including the US and Australia. * Rhodes believed that white (later, other races), western, Brits were uniquely chosen by God to be the leaders of the entire world and his scholarship sought to advance their influence in every imaginable field, from politics to art to economics to the mass media. *Students who have received that scholarship have gone on to positions of great influence everywhere. *Having been hand-selected, they have also been given access to the levers of power and persuasion which is denied to others. *They really are a force to be reckoned with, but a force mostly unknown to those outside the program. *It takes very diligent research to dig them out, but if you do that, you'll be surprised at just how influential and broadly scattered they are.

Given all that, here's MY conclusions:

All of this co-incides with the rise of the global economy. *During the past 50 years or so, we've seen the demise of the idea of the nation-state being supplanted with the idea of a global community. *That's a sea-change, the importance of which is lost to most people. *The UN is the most visible example of that, but that organization isn't directly involved in the shift economically, except by degree. *The global economy is the forerunner of a global government. *As Adam Smith postulated in "The Wealth of Nations," (the Bible for Neo-Con's) economies must create governments to sustain them, not the other way around. *Smith was right, Marx was wrong. *Once you have a global economy, a global government must inevitably follow. *You cannot have individual nation-states advancing their own selfish agendas without disrupting the global economy, and the economy supersedes all because it is uniquely positioned to bring the benefits of peace and prosperity to all. *It is the economy, not governments, which hold the keys to the future.

Now, think about what I consider the un-holy alliance of the globalist's and Evangelical Christian's (apparently including Vereide et al) in the light of both Rhodes' opinions and Biblical prophesy. *The Bible pretty clearly says that there will be a global governance in the end times, just before the return of Christ for His bride, the Church. *Eventually, it is taken control of by a single man, the Anti-Christ, and he will have the economic power to enforce obedience by nation states (Egypt is mentioned). *So far as I can see, Greece and Portugal are the first direct evidence of this happening right now. *We and Russia may very well be next.

The bottom line is that the house on C Street, it's owners and it's inhabitants, are part and parcel of this rush to the rise of the Anti-Christ, whether they know it or not. *And, I suspect most them do not. *They are ardent, committed Christian's who believe they are doing God's Will, and they are, though indirectly. *They are creating the mechanism's the Anti-Christ must have to seize control of the entire world and they will probably be surprised when it happens. *I also think that the model for that global dictator can be found in Doug Coe's favorite example: *Nazi Germany under Hitler. *Hitler did not rise to power and do what he did without the consent of God. *If he did, then God is not who He claims to be. *If anything happens throughout all of creation without His consent, then He's no God at all, is He? *Nazi Germany is the example we have of our future, but the next time, we'll have an official, world religion which claims everything but the Jesus Christ of the Bible, and the death camps will be reserved for not only Jews, but those Believer's who know who Christ really was. *And, that's all going to come about because of people like Coe, Coburn, Hatfield, Clinton, Bush etc.

Is it a conspiracy? *Yes and no. *Their program is right out there for anyone to see, if they care to look, but the underlying foundation is the devil himself. *But, it IS God's will that this must happen.

IMHO - global monopolies would prefer no government intervention to any regulation. Monopolists are the criminal gangsters of the capitalist system.

If you believe in the "end times" and the "anti-Christ" the previous post is a sacred prophesy. If you believe in human freedom and prosperity it is a candidate for "the most depressing post ever" award.

Either way, it's not particularly encouraging, is it?
