Finally! Some common sense prevails!

If you're not familiar with this story, a Marine committed suicide at a forward base in Afghanistan and the prosecution claimed it was because he was being "hazed" by his leadership.

The Courts Martial judges in this case correctly ruled that disciplining a Marine within the confines of the regulations is not hazing.

Marine sergeant not guilty in hazing case

This was a "cause celebre'" for awhile, but now some interesting facts are coming out.

For instance, the defendant in this case had the young Marine dig a foxhole as punishment for going to sleep on guard...again. The prosecutor thinks he should have followed the regs and given the kid an Article 15, and the fact that he didn't amounted to illegal hazing.

If you ask me, the way SGT. Johns handled it was just being a good NCO.

I think he handled it well too. Falling asleep on duty can get you and the people around you killed. He's lucky all he had to do was dig a foxhole. Many years ago, if you fell down in a march, they kicked you in the ribs until you broke one or two. Maybe even got out the old sock and bar of soap for some whacking. You didn't continue to mess up. You'll get it right or else.
