Lots of people who work in and around politics chain smoke. I have no idea if he did or not, but it's more common than not, so I wouldn't be surprised if that was an issue. I feel badly for his family, but careers like his are high stress, and they really do take a big toll on your body.

Agreed, Hadoken. His brand of "journalism" is very popular in fascist states inhabited by citizens who don't give a rat's ass for the truth -- only for smearing their perceived enemies -- but it has no place in a democratic Republic of free citizens such as ours.

I personally disagreed with the man's politics, but 43 years old is too soon to die. I add my condolences to the many that are being offered to his family. And I hope that speculation on how he died is kept to a minimum. We'll find out eventually, anyway.
However, the causes he fought for prevent people even younger than him to get adequate healthcare in crisis circumstances. Every death is sad, but when 25 year olds are dying of cancer because they caught it too late due to lack of insurance (as another friend of mine did this morning - Stage IV colorectal cancer, was diagnosed at 22 after 6 months of pain that the emergency room WOULD NOT INVESTIGATE because that's not what ERs are set up to do - still looking for that "free ER treatment" that people like Breitbart talk about), I have a very hard time feeling sorry for those who rail against health care reform.
My condolences are with his family, and I will miss having such a fantastic counterpoint example to my own beliefs and experiences.
When 40 something people die suddenly, it is very often due to the rupture of an artery in the brain. It is not all that uncommon to have undiagnosed brain aneurysms and the years between 40 and 55 are the prime age for them to finally rupture. This is what killed the singer, Laura Brannigan, at age 44 several years ago.
