DOJ Objects To Texas Voter ID Law; Says It Would Have Unfair Impact On Hispanics | TPMMuckraker

Texas supplied two sets of figures during the Pre-clearance process, admitting Hispanics in the state are either 46% or 120% more likely to lack valid government-issued ID.

Since the Texas law would disproportionately preclude Hispanics from voting,
DOJ's Civil Rights Divison has blocked it from going into effect, on the grounds that it is discriminatory.

so the DOJ has an issue with people PROVING who they say they are and where they reside (btw when we vote, our RESIDENCY is VERY important, since we vote for REPESENTITIVES of our RESIDING district/state)

EVERYONE should be required a photo id
you need it for almost every thing in life

Really, so disenfranchising legal elderly, student and poor voters is your idea of fair?

Please. Let's not pretend voter id laws (and other laws making it difficult to vote) are about anything other than suppressing traditionally democratic voters.

Voting is the most central and sacred of institutions on which this country is built. Screwing with that right in the name of political gain is disgusting.

so you are saying there is NO SUCH THING as student ids, aapr photo id, state issued ids, heck you can go down to the department of social services (welfare depatment) and get a free photo id(with PROOF of residency)

whats UNFAIR about showing that you "john doe' lives in district 99 when you are voting fro a repesentitive of district 99........??????

but we know the REAL STORY...liberals want to CHEAT...vote early, vote often, vote in mutiple places
