"Just as Jim Hansen, the head of the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies, has recently likened man-made global warming to “a great moral issue” like “slavery,” a group of 49 former NASA scientists issued a letter to NASA Administrator Charles Bolton asking for the administration refrain from including “unproven and unsupported remarks” about climate science in its communications."
"The letter, sent at the end of March, includes former scientists, astronauts and two former directors of NASA’s Johnson Space Center who believe climate science is “not settled” and wish for NASA to look at all available scientific data before making claims of carbon dioxide’s “catastrophic impact”.
Not really sure why people who are not climatologists or oceanographers feel they are experts in climate science?
Walter Cunningham, has a BA in physics, hardly makes him an expert in the field yet he has become the voice of the AGW movement. Where are the papers he has published? The peer review?
NOAA, the actual organization dedicated to studying this area, has the opposite view, and more expertise. They publish papers, they peer review. Whose science stands up to the scientific method is readily clear.
I agree: It's been clear for a long time that "the science is not settled".
A study proving a link between man's activities and climate change, would go a long way toward settling it... but nobody has every produced a study that does that.
The various leftists and other agenda-driven Global Whatever pushers have been demanding that government be given huge powers and resources to "do something about" climate change, for more than 40 years now.
But in all that time, they have NEVER produced even a single study that proves man can do anything about the climate... or that he ever had anything to do with the various changes we've seen.
If anything can be considerd "settled", it's that these people have no leg to stand on when they insist man has caused even part of the climate changes around us. If they had, don't you think they would be able to prove ANY of what they have been shovelling for so long?
I am not sure why climatologists or oceanographers are the only ones who can say anything about the BS known as Global Warming... oh that's right... cause a liberal said so...
I think that people who claim that man has no impact on the planet's climate are living in a dream world. Of course we are going to have an impact. Oil was formed over eons and eons ago by tiny plankton like creatures laying on top of the oceans. They breathed in the poisonous atmosphere and secreted oil and exhaled oxygen. When they died they sunk to the bottom of the oceans and formed fields of oil formed by cleaning up the poisonous air.
So the last 120 years or so these other little creatures called humans have been pumping that oil to the surface and turning it back into poisonous gasses. And they've been pretty efficient at it.
What we've already done if we stop today will still be affecting the climate ten thousand years from now.
You're right. NASA scientists are completely unqualified to remark on the subject. It's much better to rely solely on liberal biased sources.
What is a liberal biased source in SCIENCE?
How about NOAA?
The actual agency designated to study climate? Why are those scientists, experts in the actual field, who actually publish peer reviewed lit on the subject less qualified than the people in NASA?
