Democracy won't fix the country because politicians will never tell "The People" that they are the problem.

Yes, "We The People" are the problem. And we don't want to hear it from anyone, left or right.

If democracy can't fix it, then, what's left?

Democracy sucks: it eventually dissolves into mob rule. I wish America was a Republic again...

Only a benevolent dictator COULD fix America but its not worth taking the chance on a dictator since almost none have ever done good for the people. Democracy doesn't work anywhere because people are illogical idiots who vote for whatever candidate has the best ads and lies the best. Humanity just sucks and there's really nothing you can do to stop the giant sucking sound.

The politicians are just as much to blame, if a politician that tell you how it is no matter how much you dislike it his/her opponent is going to beat them over the head with it during the election.... For example in private if you asked anyone from Congress if the federal gas tax needs to be increased which hasn't been done since the 1993 most would agree, try and get them to publicly support it.

Actually, history is full of men whom we would call "dictators" doing good for the people: dozens of sainted kings, for example, and in our day, men like Franco of Spain or Moreno of Ecuador.

Seems as though our ill-fated "democracy" is sliding towards dictatorship anyway ....

On what planet was Franco doing good for the people of Spain?

Technically, that is what Iran and Russia are.

It's worked great for 200+ years. Why do so many of you think it doesn't work? Because everything isn't exactly the way you want it?

Did your parents ever teach you that you have to understand and listen to others? That others have an important voice too?

This is the best country in the history of the world and will be 100 years from now too, unless too many people go nuts like Rush Limbaugh idiots.

Democracy is actually the problem with this country.

The majority of Americans support raising taxes on the rich, hence they should be raised.

The majority of Americans support some restrictions on abortion, hence it should be restricted.

The majority of Americans support Obama, hence everything he's doing is good.

We need to go back to our true republican (little case r) values and the rule of law.
