Quite often the people who claim to be for freedom seem to show the most hostility.

Big time, the right wing goons love freedom,...just as long as it fits their agenda. To everyone else they are anti-freedom fascists.

I've noticed this as well.

The Occupy Movement immediately got labeled as all things evil while the Banks and Corporations get off scott free.

Never thought of it that way but you are right.

Those people seem to believe "freedom" as whatever their political party tells them to do.

Unless they are screaming to restrict their right to peaceful protest, so what? The protesters can protest but those opposed to them can't?

Keep in mind your right to protest doesn't mean you can trample all over the rights of other like trying to shut public places down.

--------edit---------

Now that I'm thinking about this you're complaining about those complaining about the protesters. LOL

I haven't seen anybody protesting against Occupy or the Tea Party. Just people tearing them down from the comfort of their own chairs.

I'm not saying I agree or disagree with what they're saying. I'm saying that if they are making the effort to take to the streets, then maybe we should at least contemplate their messages.

Criticizing from the comfort of your own chair is not the same.

Could you be more specific?

+1, I've noticed it too. How often do we notice that the very people who claim the mantle of "liberal" (as in "liberty") are the first to scream about 'hate speech,' to demand 'civility' and 'fairness doctrines'--all thinly disguised ways of shutting down opposing speech.

LOL come to think of it they even themselves shut up when one of their guys says take 'these s** o** b****** out' or, say, tweets the address of some targeted person in tacit incitement to violence. Just remarkable how quiet they become in such case.

They support freedom of speech, as long as they agree with the message.

I've heard many people, mostly right wingers, complain when people protest. I've heard many suggest the police throw them all in jail or start knocking heads.

Freedom of speech for these people is nothing more than a bumper sticker.
