‘Thousands of dollars” in state grants awarded to bolster health care in minority communities instead went to pay campaign workers for former state Sen. Rickey Hendon and Democratic candidates Hendon supported, a Chicago nurse has told investigators.
The nurse, Tonja Cook, 44, detailed her allegations in four interviews with state and federal authorities between October 2010 and May 2011, records show. In June 2011, federal prosecutors in Springfield charged Cook and another Chicago nurse, Margaret A. Davis, with siphoning $500,000 from state grant funds for Davis’ “personal use.”
Next thing you know a Chicago hospital will hire a politician's wife for a job that wasn't needed before and wasn't needed after he moves onto another elected job... oh, wait...
Let us not forget this this the very same corrupt and vile political environment that bred our current President and his crony wife. Their lies and hypocrisy fit in quite well with the Chicago Thug Machine. We should all be so proud.

Which is why conservatives would love to shrink government and nd those on the dole by 90%.
The more money you give a politician, the more they will want and spend.
Kind of goes back to a balanced budget amendment, doesn't it?

Balanced budget? What is that? Oh yeah, it was managed by the Congress in the 1990s back when Newt was in charge of the House. I had forgotten that such a thing could happen.

To be honest, the Republican Congress balanced budget in the 90s with Clinton as President was due to a false rise in the stock market and all the people who paid capital gainst cashing out before the crash. Nothing magical happened.
Never has been a Balanced Budget Amendment. There should be one though.
No way this could happen in Chicago. I'm shocked, I tell you. SHOCKED!
And why is the state doling out $$ in the form of grants to black-only organizations when our state is $12+ Billion in the hole and can't even pay its bills? Ahh, another gift from good 'ol Blagojevich. He's like the gift that just keeps on giving... or is it taking?

Those previously undisclosed reports portray Hendon, along with his political organization, as the beneficiary of state grant funds that Hendon helped obtain for the Chicago Chapter of the National Black Nurses Association, which Davis and Cook helped run.

The black nurses group also got more than $500,000 in other health-related state grants from the administration of now-imprisoned former Gov. Rod Blagojevich, state records show.
