I will take that as a No.

This liberal - and nuclear power proponent - has no problem with it.

This liberal has no problem with putting in Nevada. This is state politics and not national politics. Politicians have to get reelected. If their state does not want something, the politicians must represent the wishes of his/her state or they won't get reelected. This is not a liberal Republican thing...just pork politics.

Show me a statement where any Republican Nevada politican has spoken out for storing nuclear waste there. You're being intellectually dishonest in saying Harry Reid is opposing this because he's a liberal. If Dean Heller were the Senate Majority Leader, he'd be working just as hard to kill this. If Sharon Angle beat Harry Reid, she'd be working just as hard to oppose this. Your argument is groundless and you'd do better in advocating your position by not starting off with a lie and getting to the root of the problem.

Republican Gov. Brian Sandoval says no to resurrecting Yucca Mountain storage.

Must have gotten their fill of being the nation's dump.

Perhaps storing on the site where is it used is the best remedy.

You need to remember that Las Vegas and Reno were close enough to the Nevada Test Site to be dusted by fallout and got a light show when those 147 shots were conducted. If the shot was at night you had a false dawn. Yucca Mountain is on the Test Site property and some areas on the Test Site are still contaminated to the point they would fail a DOE test for public radiation safety. This is over 50 years since we exploded a nuclear device there. Also what needs to be considered is how you transport nuclear waste to Yucca Mountain you either have to go through Vegas I-15 or that railroad line that parrallels I-15 or US 95 from Reno via Tonopah. The route through Vegas parallels the Strip and goes near McCarren Apt. It is no surprise politicains of any stripe are agitated over this. It would be a bad day if you had to evacuate Las Vegas and did not have I-15 or McCarren to get people out. However the DOE people say those transport caskets can never leak, sure.

I am the farthest thing from being a liberal, and I totally oppose this. Keep your own nuclear waste.

I would rather store it in Littleton, Colorado. Of course you do not have a problem with it. You do not live here!
