What democratic policies are you babbling about? Could you be more specific to have a discussion, instead of posting a video (likely conveniently edited version, with "convenient message" embedded within)?
Got anything from this decade or at least further into this Presidency? Your first "video" is 2009 (not even a full year under Obama) and the second is 2008 (Bush).

Dem strongholds with huge welfare rolls, very high crime and poverty and lots of outrageous public union employee spending...... also the worst schools in the nation DESPITE out of controll spending pre pupil.... I have to defend Cleveland, being that I'm from the area. While it is a Democrat hot bed, there are a lot of good things happening in the city right now. We're seeing a boom right now with development downtown that hasn't happened since the 90s. We just opened up the new Horseshoe Casino, and were the first of Ohio's 4 large cities to open, since gambling was approved in Ohio. Which is a a plus, because usually the powers that be usually trip over their own feet to get anything done around here. We also currently have going on the revitalization of The Flats which used to be a regional hot spot for partyers, and club goers. Now it is going to be a combination of restaurants, condominums, and shopping. Then there is the construction of the new Medical Mart Convention Center which is much needed if we're going to compete with other major cities for landing major conventions. The current convention center is too small, and very outdated. We have also opened a new aquarium as well. And then there is the much needed construction for the inner-belt bridge.
Sure there are still plenty of issues with crime and poverty, but you can say that about every big city. Things have been starting to turn around here with just the few things that I've mentioned.

Detroit isn't what happens when you have democratic government, Detroit is what happens when money leaves the city for their little piece of heaven in the suburbs.
I don't like the city of Detroit, but I did enjoy the people there. Chicago, for an alternative, is known for Democratic politics and governance, but its a wonderful city compared to Detroit.
I can name several Republican lead cities and states where development and things have come to a screeching halt as well......

Next, and seventh, is Cleveland's Dennis Kucinich (1977-79). Only thirty-one years old when elected, Cleveland's "boy" mayor had failings that were not the sins of venality or graft for personal gain, but rather matters of style, temperament, and bad judgment in office. Kucinich earned seventh place the hard way: by his abrasive, intemperate, and confrontational populist political style, which led to a disorderly and chaotic administration. He barely survived a recall vote just ten months into office, then disappeared for five weeks, reportedly recuperating from an ulcer. When he got back into the political fray, his demagogic rhetoric and slash-and-burn political style got him into serious trouble when he stubbornly refused to compromise and led Cleveland into financial default in late 1978"the first major city to default since the Great Depression. That led also to Kucinich's defeat and exit from executive office. Out of office, he dabbled in a Hollywoodesque spirit world and once believed he had met actress Shirley MacLaine in a previous life, seemingly confirming his critics' charges that he was a "nut-cake." After that, he experienced downward mobility, losing races for several other offices and finally ending up with a council seat; but more recently, he climbed back up to a seat in Congress. Bad judgment, demagoguery, and default also spelled political failure in the eyes of twenty-five of our experts, who ranked Dennis, whom the press called "the Menace," as seventh-worst.

This happened in Cleveland. What also happened was bussing where they tried to integrate the schools, further causing people to flee to the suburbs. Also throw in the loss of manufacturing jobs, and it only magnified the problem. Downtown Cleveland is for the most part relatively safe. Not to mention it is one of the fastest growing downtowns in the midwest. The problem still remains with the neighborhoods losing population, but I'm hopeful that will stablize. I live in the suburbs, but I'm smart enough to know that what happens to the core city will trickle down and effect the suburbs.
At any rate, we're working on fixing it here. They took out the trash with a couple of big time politicians being indicted and sentenced to prison for corruption, so hopefully that will help as well.
