Recently I was on my Facebook page and one of my conservative friends posted something saying "We're taking the White House back", this isn't the first time I've heard this. In fact I've heard it in public, the media, social networking, etc but I would like to know the meaning of it? It sounds like it can be taken two ways, one is a republican president, and the other has more of a racial undertone to it if you ask me, which means there taking a African American out of the white house and replacing him a Caucasian. Like I said, I don't know if they are saying one or the other so can you explain what that means?
I believe if Hermain Cain was the Republican party nominee, conservatives wouldn't be saying "we're taking back the white house". And how long has this phrase been used?
Please note, that this isn't meant to provoke a liberal/conservative argument, I just want to know how the phrase is supposed to be interpreted.
"If we're going to build the foundation for taking the White House back we're going to have to do it by what we stand for, by the values and ideas that we promote." --DLC founder and CEO Al From, 2006
Ok thank you, so was this phrase used in other Presidential Campaigns? I'm only 20 years old, so this is my first time understanding completely how Presidential Campaigns work.
Lol ok Nevermind, thanks for the video. I just wanted to know the history behind the phrase, still I don't believe it would be naive to say "some" people may use it in racial ways.

Yes, and there are liberals who smoke weed and eat peoples' faces.
It means taking back the White House from the Democrats. Enough with seeing racism under every rock.
Amen. Most likely the sentiment would have been precisely the same had Hillary Clinton been the sitting president.
