Why are men and women excpected to dress differently? Why is it that if a person defies this norm (man wearing a dress , women in a men's suit and tie) do some people get up in arms about it? Why can't a person just dress the way the want (using good hygiene and judgement, no risque in church) and be left alone?

I just don't understand this fixation with the way others dress. So what if a man wants to walk down the street in a miniskirt with a purse, or a woman in baggy jeans and a t-shirt.

Who is , as you say, "Up in arms" about it? I see plenty of cross-dressers and have never seen anyone hassle them...

Perhaps this is your own issue and perception?

Because people are innately conservative and conventional and afraid to break traditions.

Even if we don't agree with them it's hard to re-wire...for instance I think women should feel free to not shave their armpits, yet on the other hand I admit I still find the idea of it a bit gross. My rational mind has to fight against my 'gag reflex'.

Cool.

Let's teach boys and girls how to cross dress in our public schools.

Maybe these weirdos could get some pumps cheap from Amazon.

Stay out of my neighborhood.

I don't think women in men's clothes is any big deal to anyone. You often see women in jeans and t-shirts. Women can wear ties and suit jackets and no one gets up in arms over it. If anything jeans, and t-shirts and athletic shoes are unisex.

It's just when men wear women's clothes like high heels and skirts.

Who was talking about children, and why does it matter what people wear? Are you really that uptight and stuck in American (since this isn't a worldwide rule) gender roles - and how do you feel about women wearing pants? That was considered weird within the last century, ya know.

Maybe they could... I'm sure they appreciate the suggestion! Although I find Zappos has better prices, especially on my favorite Dansko clogs.

Or what? And if they live in "your" neighborhood, and say YOU should stay out - then what??

P.S. I know a 6'4"ish ex-Navy officer who cross-dresses... I'd love to see you tell him where he can & cannot go, LOL.
