Calls to Destroy Egypt’s Great Pyramids Begin | FrontPage Magazine

Seems Muslims have tried to destroy them once before and also burned the books at the library of Alexandria. They weren't able to destroy the pyramids due to lack of technology, something they may have today.

It's human nature. Religious belief is only one of the many reasons why people destroy rival religious symbols even if those symbols no longer represent religious belief.

Christianity, in its attempt to gain control certainly attacked symbols of paganism and, when faced with the problem of pagan behavior that would be difficult to dismantle, it simply adopted them - or capitulated, if you will. It has simply been a few years for the dominant religion of the West since they pursued such endeavors.

Alas, Americans were certainly not concerned with the reckless destruction of ancient artifacts and edifices when they bombed Germany. And yeah, it was a war - just like it is for the Salafists.

Thus, I am not surprised. Why would it be different now?

Because in this case, Egypt's economy is totally dependent upon ancient Egypt historical monuments. Take those away and what you have left is desert.

Well, the great library of Alexandria burned some 600 years before Mohammed was alive (during the time of Julius Ceasar).

There were smaller libraries afterwards, which also burned at times.

Here is a link to an article about it:

The Straight Dope: What happened to the great library of Alexandria?

I agree, let them run wild and destroy all they want. It will just show their true colors. I don't care anymore what those animals do.

I figure they will destroy 1 pyramid, and then they will have to contend with a bunch of countries commiting war on them, carpet bombing them back to the 12th century.
