The above, I think, is a pretty accurate description of human nature generally. How we act is incredibly dependent on context, much more than we're usually conscious of.
If someone is encouraged to feel victimized - guess what? - he will. And he will feel justified in taking any compensation offered. Indeed, he will quickly become indignant when said compensation is lessened or withdrawn.
But if someone says, Hey, no more money! Get a frickin' job, already,
then he will probably prove to be much more resilient than the society ever gave him credit for.

As well as no social security and Medicare which you wull need when your old. Just save up for your old age like in most third world countries.
As soon as you end the Exxon Mobils and Morgan Stanley's who make billions in profits yet have their hand out for corporate welfare, then we can talk about grandma's $800 social security check, and Reba-Lynns $200 food stamp card.

Let me know when that is complete.
I don't agree with OP's sentiment, but the corporations pay the money back, with interest.
Umm...maybe you don't know what corporate welfare is...IT IS NEVER PAID BACK and simply a monumental fleecing. Take 5 minutes to google it and educate yourself about who is really the welfare queens of the country. Here's a hint: it isn't Grandma or Reba-Lynn.
And you probably don't know how ss and food stamps work either, as we all, including Grandma and Reba-Lynn, PAY INTO it, and use it if/when we NEED it. See how that works?

Reba-Lynn does not pay into it, or at least not to the degree she takes out due to low income which leaves her in need of food stamps to begin with. Also, most people never need food stamps in their lifetime meaning they have paid into the system without getting anything out of it.
Don't get me wrong, for the most part I have no problem with paying into the system for those in need. I'm just playing devil's advocate, that's all. Although I do get annoyed anytime I see an able bodied man use food stamps at the store, only to go out and get into his brand new Escalade in the parking lot. Something ain't right there!

For some reason, some people don't think those on SS or welfare don't pay taxes.
