Anyone else remember the last time a Republican candidate for the Presidency had a plan that they promised to reveal after the election?

Wow, what a relevant thread topic!

Either way, Obama did a lousy job, and in the private sector, he would have been forced to resign long ago. The ONLY reason why he even has a chance to be reelected, is because of the partisan divide, which has a knack for putting blinders over the voters' eyes.

During the 1968 presidential campaign Richard Nixon promised to achieve "an honorable end to the war" in vietnam. Of course none of the details of the plan were revealed to the electorate prior to the November election. Little did the public know that what little of the plan existed was a major escalation of the war, its expansion into Cambodia, and over 20,000 American combat fatalities. In the end the "the U.S. withdrawal" was anything but honorable.

That must explain why Bush lasted 8 years... Or was John Kerry that bad of an alternative...

Then perhaps you might thinking about staying on topic.

Obama did a lousy job,
More than a few people don't see it that way and that opinion runs far deeper than simple partisanship.

Actually, that helicopter scene is a result of the Democrat congress stabbing the South Vietnamese in the back, and refusing to appropriate funds. Their pettiness resulted in many, many deaths.

So - you are criticizing President Obama for not having a plan?

I agree.

Really?

"In the absence of almost any concrete details about Mitt Romney's tax proposals, even his closest backers are being forced to admit that they don't know much about their candidate's plans for tax reform."

"Mitt Romney says he will cut government spending by some $500 billion a year by the end of his first term, while protecting military spending. But he has not detailed many of the deep cuts to domestic programs that budget analysts say would be needed to achieve that."

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/09/15/us...proposals.html

And the Chicago Tribune which hadn't endorsed a Democrat in 165 years in its second endorsement of Obama stated:

"And Mitt Romney? He projects himself as a sure-handed chief executive, a proven leader who solves problems. He has, though, been astonishingly willing to bend his views to the politics of the moment: on abortion, on immigration, on gun laws and, most famously, on health care.

As a governor, his signature issue was the deal he cut with Democrats to extend health care -- and a health insurance mandate -- to all citizens. Romneycare was the Massachusetts model on which key elements of Obamacare were modeled. Yet Romney won’t acknowledge he is, in effect, the godfather of the national health care plan he vows to repeal.

His proposals to achieve a balanced budget, and to begin reducing taxpayers’ huge debts, rest on questionable math and rosy assumptions."

It may have caused some deaths but virtually none were American. Would you rather of had 75,000 names on the Vietnam Wall in Washington rather than the 58,000 who earned that privelege! In fact you could have really been lucky my name might have been on it instead of on this forum for I had a Draft Lottery number of 4 in the year of 1973. Regardless, one of my favorite cousins who took me on my first ride on his Motorcycle (Christmas 1966) is on the granite panel that covers October 1968. He died on the deck of an Aircraft Carrier in the South China Sea.
