The party distribution is telling, but not surprising since this is about scoring fiscal responsibility.

It's not surprising that Illinois is 50th, considering it's the black hole of political corruption. How many IL Governors, representatives, and senators have landed in prison over the last two decades? IMHO; Fiscal responsibility should be party neutral and a bi-partisan affair. There isn't a shortage of tax revenues, just common sense and virtue.

I thought Kasich would have a better ranking then 11th because he is doing a great job in Ohio. He has taken a deficit and turned into a surplus and the UE rate in Ohio is well below the national average.

My current governor is second to last and I'm not surprised at all. I don't think he knows the meaning of fiscal responsibility.

I don't see my future (Mississippi) governor on this list. hmmm

My governor (Rick Perry) is in the bottom half; no surprise, the man is a bumbling idiot.

CATO is a libertarian think-tank, so I wouldn't expect them to give good grades to Democratic governors.
