The Tea Party are a bunch of frauds. Its supposed to mean Taxed Enough Already but they do all kinds of stuff unrelated to that like trying to prove Obama is Muslim and not a natural citizen, keeping a Mosque from being built in NYC and keeping gay marriage illegal. That's why actual libertarians despise those fundie crackpots.

Obama was just running around blaming the republicans for 500 billion in military cuts that will go through. And you folks are screaming about the tea party not wanting cuts. Your arguments are beyond ridiculous. And this is on top of the 400 or so billion that has already been cut. Not enough for the left military haters though. They want our troops defending embassies with blanks.

As a libertarian I look at the individuals, not the label. There are semi-libertarian, as well as social conservatives, with the Tea party label.

The f'n Military is a boondogle and not worth it. Sure its a way to motivate the sheeples, but we could drop the military to about 1/10 its current size. . .be VERY adaptable to situations if needed.
It just needs you to give up "i'M the policeman of the world" and f' that, the world doesn't want you to the job anyway.

Not everyone has had your opportunities, and just because they address you as Sir or Ma'am doesn't mean you're superior to them.
It's just that they just have a greater level of commitment and this, so much so, they'll even put up with officers who make use of military structure and discipline to help resolve their obvious personal issues.
I admire anyone who volunteers to do the real work of defending the nation.
They deserve much better pay and benefits and they definitely deserve the very best equipment we can provide for them, but even more that that, they deserve our respect.
There are certainly areas in the defense budget that should be looked at, but this should come only after we have done everything possible to improve the lives of enlisted military personnel and completely restructured the federal government.
I'm a freaking Libertarian, and I have said many negative things about Kerry on here. Just because someone doesn't believe that having a defense department with 3,000,000 people in it (who cost us taxpayers an average of $170,000 a year) doesn't mean they're a Democrat. Ron Paul agrees with me. So does Gary Johnson.
Excuse me? Are you actually saying that the enlisted boys (the majority of whom aren't uber-patriotic, but rather just confused 18 year olds who want money for college or simply don't know what to do with themselves) are more patriotic than those of us who went to college and used our educations to serve the country? Are you actually suggesting that I'm not a patriot?
I actually care about this country, which is why is angers me so much that people like you give our insane global military occupation a pass. We have troops in over 100 countries. Is that necessary? Why do we need 50,000+ troops in Germany when that country is quite possibly our biggest ally these days? I thought the Korean war ended in the 50s (well, it didn't technically start...but that's a different thread), so why the F do we still have thousands of troops stationed there?
When you people actually use your freaking brains, you may notice that our defense department is the majority of our budget deficit that can be cut. You can't cut a lot of other programs because too many people are dependent on them, but unless you support a socialist welfare program, you should be for cutting our defense department at least in half, if not cutting it to a third of its size. Otherwise, you're just another joke of a TEA Party member who believes that magical faeries will come down from Heaven and bless America with gold from the sky to pay for our insanely bloated defense department.
Or maybe we can shift those 50,000 troops in Germany to actually protect something. The 1,000,000 troops in America and the 250,000+ abroad in non-combat zones didn't do anything to protect that embassy, so clearly MORE bullets and soldiers wouldn't help. Maybe if they were stationed in places that actually had danger...

Tell me how Germany is of strategic importance to us to the point of $5,000,000,000 a year in just paying for the troops to be stationed there (you know, in a place where they contribute to the German economy instead of the American economy).
You know why you people get so much slack from those of us who are intellectually capable? It's this. You can't have an intellectual argument. You immediately start name-calling (left military haters) and making retarded assumptions (I served, yet I'm a military hater) and completely ignoring that this is an actually serious problem.
Tell me how the military is not just another socialist welfare program? 80% of those troops are completely unreleated to our defense, the majority of them are simply stationed somewhere for a few years and then use all the money we gave them as taxpayers to have a much easier life than they would have had if they had tried to make it in the real world.
We give any kid a job in the Military, nowadays we're giving GANG MEMBERS a perfect training ground for their business.
