It's a political statement and yes, I would say it symbolized the hanging of the president (beloved or not.) But it is free speech and it is allowed. Just like burning Dubya in effigy was during his time in the white house.

You can hang an empty suit, and it would be the same thing as hanging an empty chair. It is symbolic of the empty rhetoric spewed by a completely incompetent buffoon of a President.

I think the fact that it was hanging from a NOOSE has some racial tones. At least that is my opinion. But heck if he is a racist, he can be. In the US is allowed. What bothers me is that when he took the chair down he said "race has nothing to do with it". This man is OLD like 80's. He knows what a noose is and what it means.

I mean if you love your nooses and your kkk, or your racism, you can just say it. Freedom of speech.

Certainly seems racist to me.

And of course nobody is advocating he doesn't have right to make a racist "statement" as he did in his front yard. It's just obnoxious and offensive to most people.

You must be reading a different news story, because this one says nothing about a NOOSE.

Can't watch the video. What does it say about a noose?

But you keep providing evidence that you are reading a different story .

"Jacobsen says he thought the chair would be stolen if he didn’t hang it from the tree. He has no plans to take it down."
Where did you hear he took it down?

I believe I saw it in the ABC app or CBS app for IPAD. It should be on the full website too. He took it down because (and I quote) " I do not want people to feel this has anything to do with race"...

Austin empty-chair lynching goes viral | KXAn.com

actually this local station is calling it a "lynching". So I guess I was right.

Uh...that's Austin, TX, yet this story happened in Colorado.
So I guess you were wrong.

And there's no NOOSE in that story either,so you're wrong yet again.
