When will teachers keep away from students and stick with legal adults? Cue "The Police" song "Don't Stand So Close To Me". But of course, the comedians and television writers will still poke insjulting jokes at priest while having a "hands off" approach towards teachers.

Good grief, you'd think these pedophiles would have learned their lessons after the first few dozen teachers were caught molesting our kids.

What makes this story worse is the two school administrators tried to cover up the case to protect the teachers. The 3 teachers are men, I believe the 2 administrators are women.

Faulk said rape charges could not be filed because the sex acts were consensual and the girls were 17 or 18 at the time — old enough to consent under state law.
Courtney Stodden got permission from her family to marry Doug Hutchison at 16.

I think pedophilia is disgusting but these girls are jail bait age, not kiddie porn age. And it was consensual according to the laws of that state. They can't even call it rape.

I had a teacher hit on me when I was just 13, that's on the sick side.

However, some states have made it against the law for those in a position of authority over minor children to engage in sexual relations even if they're at the age of consent. Even if such laws didn't exist, all those involved in this case should automatically be fired for their actions. School teachers should not have sexual relations with students and administrators should not be trying to cover-up for those actions.

No they shouldn't. But I don't think adults should be having relationships with under 18's at all under any circumstance.

Does anyone know the laws here? I'm just curious about one of the charges.

Gym teacher and boys’ soccer coach Nick Martinelli, 28, of Cherry Hill is charged with official misconduct involving an 18-year-old. He allegedly touched and kissed the girl when she was a student and had intercourse with her after she graduated in June.

I will state that I believe it should at the very least be something that get a teacher fired no matter the age, but not knowing what the laws are, I'm wondering if what was done here is even illegal.

I bet they cannot be fired and they still get pay for their "suspension". Then get an early retirement with full benefits.

You are correct. This case is about abuse of power and general "rules against such things". Minor students are not to be used by adult teachers as a potential source of sexual conquests.
