The NAACP knows that in order to level the playing field that you have to lower the test scores, otherwise these schools would be all white & Asian. They would all come from the most wealthiest families in NYC.

If one person can do it, others can too. It's people who make up their mind that they can't even though they have the ability to do so who lose out. Of course not every one is going to qualify to go to an elite school. But don't say that just become someone is poor that they can't. These success stories as you put it showed they really, really wanted to succeed, despite their obstacles. I would rather pay for thousands of kids who really wanted to get into these schools, who worked hard, got good grades, but couldn't afford to go.

They know that a standardized test is not "standard" since everyone doesn't live the same.
Do you think a Hispanic or Black single parent will know about a 2 year prep program in NYC? Come on.
Should we do the same for sports? Fat kids are slow so we give them a headstart. If they cross the line first they are the winner?

You can't "buy" smartness.
I disagree as there are studies that show that parents who spend more time with kids do better in school; if it was as you said then no time with parents would matter, right?

I was replying to a poster that said the poor kids couldn't afford the expensive prep class for this test.
The prep class is not what is getting them into these elite schools; they are already above average ability.

I see, though your message makes it sound like no matter how much prep poor kids receive they'll never achieve the same level of intelligence.

Wholly agree. If the NAACP sought scholarships for young people who qualified academically to get into the school, but couldn't afford to, they would have hundreds being sponsored to go. Instead they want to lower the bar. Wrong approach.

False premise.

Why should the statistics be mirrored?

We see stupidity like this all the time. As former cop, I pay attention to cop things and there is this endless stupidity about not enough Black men in law enforcement. The "obvious" conclusion is what? Well, racial discrimination, right?

But for the last 20 years, what has every survey and every study ever conducted repeatedly proven time and time and time again?

Black men don't want to be in law enforcement or corrections.

Black men want to be doctors, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, family counseling, education counseling, substance abuse counseling, addiction therapists, intervention specialists, parole and probation officers, and community supporters.

What would you call that? I don't know, looks like "healing arts" to me.

I suppose many Black men look around and ask themselves, How can I make an impact? How can I make a difference? And the answer to those questions seems to be getting into the "healing arts" and helping others.

But you and your ilk don't give a damn about that. All you care about is the numbers looking pretty, and lining up nicely in columns. So you'll screw everybody over and waste people's lives and lots of money with your stupidity, just so you feel good, and Black men be damned, if you have to force them at gun-point to be police officers just so some people can feel good, then so help you god that's what you'll do, right?

Brilliant.

Your question is stupid. If parents can buy gym shoes for $18 for their kids, then why do they buy $180 Nike shoes?

You can back that claim up with data. After all, you are the "knowledge dude."

Why would they? It's based on merit, not the roll of the dice.

Maybe you should adopt the Euro-Education system, especially since you're all hot and heavy for the Euro-Health system.

If only 5% of Americans had college degrees you can have a helluva lot more to whine about.

Holding the Red Star proudly high in hand...

Yes, they did. I wonder why the Europeans do it differently....

Scarcely...

Uh; many Asians are def "brown" in color like Indians and Pakistan people and many "Hispanics" have white skin. If talking about Black people: their dark skin color don't hold back the ones from Africa who go to school in the US. THose Blacks and "browns" apply and have the rep for doing well so why the NAACP and La Raza crowds are so down and out?
