“We should have one Secretary of Business, instead of nine different departments that are dealing with things like giving loans to SBA or helping companies with exports,” Mr. Obama said in an interview that aired Monday on MSNBC. “There should be a one-stop shop.”

If he needs a Secretary of Business then what does the Secretary of Commerce do? According to the constitution the fed government doesn't have jurisdiction to oversee business, only interstate commerce. The establishment of the office should be declared unconstitutional. It belongs to the states explicitly. And Obama needs to understand something. Nobody "gives" loans to the SBA. In reality, the SBA secures loans for businesses. This is more proof that it is not wise to vote for a candidate who never had any business experience as Governor Palin suggested back in 2008.

Elimination of waste, elimination of duplicative government functions, and a streamlining of government processes and more support for businesses ... is exactly what the GOP has advocated for years. I'm suspecting you're either very young and inexperienced with government operations or are not born in the USA and therefore your comments can be excused for lack of knowledge.

Yet government grows and grows and the economy is in the toilet.

"Enlarging government to make it more efficient." Is that the new motto from the big government republocrats?

If we have 2 departments doing the same thing when it comes to XXX, department two should quit becoming involved in xxx. Good to know we need someone in charge of that.

I'm suspecting you're either very young and inexperienced with government operations, or are not born in the USA, or a big government supporter that wants to be taken care of from cradle to grave and therefore your comments can be excused for lack of knowledge.

Nothing Obama promised the first time around, he delivered on. Infact this President has not helped our situation at all in any way.

He has made our situation much much worse.

What he was suppose to stand for, he was everything against!

Your ability to interpret information sucks balls... There are 9 different departments dealing with Commerce. The whole point of this would be eliminating overlap and streamlining government.

Not sure how you measure the growth of government, but it surely can't be based upon the number of federal employees. And I have no idea how the consolidation of agencies counts as growth.

Just like DHS did, right? Eliminate overlap and put all the law enforcement agencies under one umbrella. That's working out great, isn't it?

No. No new cabinets, agencies, bureaus, czars, secretaries, programs... Just no. If you want to "streamline," do it within the framework you already have. If there's overlap, get rid of it - you don't need to create a completely new bureaucracy to do it.
